Leben in den Kasernen (Fort Indiantown Gap, PA)

For this event we were portraying the members of Grenadier Ersatz Btl. 348, stationed in a training facility within Wehrkreis XI during the winter of 1944.  After being called to service, you had reported to the local reporting office, and ordered to report to the STAMMKOMPANIE of GRENADIER ERSATZ BTL. 348.  Here you would have relinquished your Wehrpaß, and received a Soldbuch, ID disc, and basic uniform issue.  Immediately after induction, you would have been sent to a barracks for a week or two of basic military instruction.  Thus began our event scenario.

On a side note, der Erste Zug also participated in the tactical on Friday.  For the combat (and only the combat), we digressed from the above scenario and portrayed members of Nr. 5 Kompanie, Gren. Regt. 980 / 272nd Volksgrenadier Division in defense of the farming village of Kesternich during the Ardennes Offensive.
