Welcome

After the success of last year's full gear march, Der Erste Zug will once again be marching or riding bicycles to the Eisenhower National Historic Site's WWII Weekend event.

Anyone with a period bicycle or on foot who wish to fall in with us for this march on foot are welcome. This event is open to anyone wishing partake as long as you follow our scenario impression & authenticity guidelines found in this primer.  Be sure to email us before hand for more information & confirmation.

We will be staying off site Friday & then march in Saturday morning.  This time, It will be about a 16 km (10 mile).  Those with or who have access to correct European bicycles, this is the event to use them.

Our set-up at the event site will be that of a basic German one day camp set-up in the hedgerows of Normandie (tree line on the farm).  Of course this is a pre-allied invasion scenario, so we are looking to have a mail call, equipment display (laid out so as not to look like a modern set-up), training, French music, soldiers doing laundry, period German rations, etc...  All this of course is based on the public's interaction & educational benefit.

Our march was a great success last year with everyone at the event stopping what they were doing to watch us come in.  Don't miss out!

As before we hope to see you there,
     Jon Bocek
