Occupation of
Ettelbruck / Dezember 1944 (Bedford, PA)
The
unit we were portraying was the
Nr. 5
Kompanie, Gren. Regt. 915 /
352nd Volksgrenadier Division
during the first days of the Ardennes Offensive. At this point in the war
many who were veterans in the unit were in some sort of leadership roles.
Those regular grenadiers were mostly naval transfers, draftees, or young
& old volunteers.
We represented the occupation of the Luxembourg town of Ettelbruck. It is the
19th of December 1944. The American 109th Inf. Regt. of the
28th Div. had just recently left the town in a hurry, leaving
any nonessential items behind. Moral is high for we are
advancing and forcing the Ami to retreat. Our unit has moved into a house
once occupied by a platoon HQ of the US 109th Inf. Regt.
